God wants all believers in Christ to grow in grace and become more and more like His Son, Jesus Christ. But how does a believer grow spiritually. God has provided everything necessary by His grace for you to grow as a child of God, except for the faith that you must learn to exercise in daily dependence upon Him and His promises. Listed below is what is involved in God’s grace design for your spiritual growth.
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. (Hebrews 5:12)
For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. (Hebrews 5:13)
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. (John 14:26)
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, . . . (Ephesians 4:11-15)
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:2-4)
. . . but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it . (Heb 4:2b)
